This Friday Night

It's Labor Day Weekend! You know what that means - pull out all those white shorts that will be inappropriate to wear come Tuesday. Of course, white being the new black, white jeans can stick around year long this time! I'll be spending my weekend lounging at the pool, grilling out with friends, and maybe a little retail therapy with all the Labor Day sales going on!

Stella and Dot has an extra 25% off sale this weekend!
Check out Banana Republic, J.Crew, and Bauble Bar's online sales too!

Jewelry Organization!

With my newfound *addiction* to statement jewelry, I’ve had to reorganize my entire jewelry collection to accommodate all my new pieces. I love jewelry organization, and I headed right to The Container Store to pick up some more of my favorite acrylic pieces. My mom and I personalize the clear trays (and protect our precious baubles!) with felt which can be purchased at any arts and crafts or fabric store. I love acrylic organizers which is why I have so many different kinds. They are a fantastic way to turn organization  into decoration. Jewelry organization is all about displaying your fabulous pieces – atop your dressing table, vanity, or dresser- where you can show off your amazing collection! Displaying your jewelry adds color and conversation starters, and shows off your personal style. Of course, organizing your jewelry will also keep it untangled and easy to find.

For some more jewelry organization tips, check out these websites:

Jewelry organizing article found on Pinterest:

And her jewelry organization board:

This looks so glamorous and organized. That size stand is a must for bracelets. I like how she has devoted the entire piece of furniture to jewelry and tucked away the delicate necklaces. It's also a great idea to incorporate artwork into the space to create a tableau.

It’s so easy to utilize an Ikea piece and acrylic stands! I like how she mixed it up with trays, black, and acrylic. All of the jewelry pops!

Here's mine:

The furniture is a piece leftover from college from Meijer. All my acrylic pieces are from The Container Store, and the metal earring stand is from Flowers of the Meadow – now The Camargo Trading Co. The pink lacquer tray is another old piece from Pottery Barn Teen. The best part about all of the acrylic pieces if that they look like they match one another even if they’re from different stores. Most of them are also interchangeable and stackable, which allows for a lot of versatility.

These are some of my favorite products out there for organizing jewelry. A quick search on Pinterest will show that there are lots of DIY options out there as well, but I love the elegance of my jewelry display resembling the Nordstrom or J.Crew jewelry display cases.

Julep

Thanks to an ever so stylish friend, I’ve just joined Julep.com and become a Julep Maven. For $20 a month I get 3 nail polishes selected for me based on a short quiz. Since she recommended me, I got my first set free! Julep has amazing colors and I’ve heard wonderful things about their FreedomPolymer Top Coat, so I can’t wait to try it out! Plus I get a 20% discount on all my orders.
My style profile is It Girl. My first set contains Isla, a shimmery white, Mila a glittery charcoal, and Bette, a bright purple. I can definitely transition into fall with these.
Julep It Girl Starter box: Bette, Mila, and Isla

Speaking of fall colors, I am not at all surprised that the hues from last year are returning. This fall we’ll see the classic black, along with other dark colors like oxblood, eggplant, and navy. Greens are coming back all over the spectrum, from deep army to bright chartreuse. Neon will stay through fall, especially in orange, cobalt, and purple. Metallic and glitter polishes continue to make a huge comeback, especially in neutral shades. The natural nail will never go out of style, and try a matte top coat over a nude or neutral polish for an even more natural look. While nail art won’t be as outrageous as it has been this summer, the French manicure alternatives are getting more and more bold. Experiment with color combinations on the tips, or try a reverse French manicure with metallic or glitter crescents.
Favorite nail polish brands: Deborah Lippmann, Essie, Julep, Illamasqua
While summer’s still around, I’m going to put some serious time into nail art. And I may never put away my white polish (my newly discovered favorite color of all time. White is the new black?). My favorite combination is white and gold. Maybe not the most bold of statements, but definitely glamorous.
What’s your nail polish look of the summer? What are you going to try in the fall? Take a look at some inspiration below!

R.I.P. Magic City

Today’s post is in honor of Magic City’s last episode on Starz tonight. I can’t hide my disappointment that it has been cancelled after just two seasons, and I was really into this show. Who doesn't love the glitz and glamour of late 1950s Miami filled with sex, attractive actors, and gangsters? And last, but certainly not least, the fashion. Thankfully, these glamorous 50s styles have made their way onto the racks of today. So no matter whether you’re a sneaky, seductive Lily Diamond, innocent, naive Mercedes Lazaro, rich and beautiful Vera Evans, conservative classy Meg Bannock, or just plain sexy Judi Silver, you can find a Magic City inspired outfit out there to channel your inner leading lady of Magic City.
Magic City Fashion

For starters, check out Cosabella’s line of Magic City inspired pieces. The Vera Hotpants and Judi High Brief are gorgeous. There’s no Meg or Lily inspired panties here though, I guess because Meg is always buttoned up and Lily often mentioned that she wasn't wearing any.
